THE ‘HOUSE’
house of yoreh is first and foremost a specialty coffee bar in Canggu, Bali — with an obsessive focus on quality, intent, and artistry in every cup.
Founded by photographer and certified SCA coffee specialist Matt Jacob, House of Yoreh goes beyond the typical café experience. It’s a place where coffee is treated as a creative expression, crafted to its highest potential and served in a calm, ARTISTIC aesthetic space that also houses a small creative studio ABOVE THE COFFEE SHOP.
FARM TO CUP
Yoreh’s coffee philosophy mirrors its approach to art — transforming simple, everyday elements into meaningful, beautiful experiences. From the planting of the seed to the final pour in your cup, every stage of the coffee’s journey is carefully controlled, refined, and executed with intent.
Matt developed his passion for quality coffee during the early 2010’s in Hong Kong, when the “third wave” coffee movement began to spread across Asia. Concerned with the dilution of standards that followed the trend’s popularity, he committed to doing things differently: to create coffee that honours every step of its journey with artistic excellence.
LOCAL, DIRECT
Yoreh works directly with a single coffee farm in the volcanic foothills of Mt. Puntang, Bandung — a historic region where Indonesia’s coffee industry began during Dutch colonisation. The beans grown here are exceptionally high-grade (SCA score of 82.5) and have won multiple awards. Thanks to this direct trade relationship, Yoreh ensures:
Full traceability and quality control
Ethical practices and fair compensation for the farmers
An exclusive and complex flavour profile that reflects the terroir of the region.
CREATIVE CONTROL
AT EVERY STEP…
Roasting is carefully profiled to ensure each batch brings out the expression of what Matt and the Yoreh team feel is best matched to not only the potential of the bean itself, but the uniqueness of Yoreh’s essence as well as providing a favoured customer experience. As such, the coffee, regardless of what options one chooses to drink, consistently exhibits depth and complexity, and a completely unique and alternative take on what would normally be expected from Indonesian coffee. The flavour is rich, multi-layered, and intentionally distinct — the result of countless hours spent perfecting the roast profile to reflect Yoreh’s values of quality, expression, and artistry.
CRAFT
Baristas at House of Yoreh begin each day with extensive dial-in sessions, adjusting espresso machines and grinders to achieve exact flavour consistency. The standout drink is the Angel Mane — a secret espresso recipe that balances intensity with sweetness, with notes of caramel, dark chocolate, and orange. It was created by Matt after years of global coffee exploration, intended as a pure representation of his love for espresso.
PURPOSE
Yoreh avoids commercial “greenwashing,” but actively incorporates mindful practices:
Local-only supply chain (farm, roaster, baristas, all other materials).
Alternative milk options, no paper, no cash.
Long-term, fair-pay partnerships with suppliers and staff.
Intentional sourcing, minimal waste, sustainable jewelry packaging.
Coffee at Yoreh is not just about consumption — it’s about connection and mindful experience. It’s a ritual that brings people together and encourages conscious living. Each cup is a reminder to slow down and appreciate the everyday beauty in life. That’s why regulars often say it’s more than a coffee shop — it’s a space to belong.
